1. WHAT IS A CYCLE DAY?
|
Our daily schedule will be operating by way of a “5 DAY
CYCLE,” as opposed to the traditional Monday through
Friday concept. By using a 5 DAY CYCLE, we avoid
missing special subjects (Art, Music, Physical
Education, and Library) on days when school is not in
session (snow days, vacation days, etc.).The first day
of school will be “DAY 1,” as opposed to “MONDAY.” The
second day of school will be “DAY 2;” the third day will
be “DAY 3,” and so forth. The cycle will repeat itself
every five days. In order to prevent any confusion, the
“DAY” will be posted on our Brooke Happenings Calendar,
as well as in classrooms and on our morning television
announcements. |
2.
WHEN CAN STUDENTS ARRIVE AT SCHOOL?
Children should not be dropped off at school before 8:45 AM,
at which time they will be admitted to the school building.
All students must be in their classrooms by 9:00 AM, which
is the start of the school day. If your child arrives at school
after 9:00 AM, he/she is considered tardy. Please have your
child report to the office with an excuse note before proceeding
to his/her classroom.
3.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PICKED UP?
Parents
who want to pick up their child at the end of the day (3:35 PM)
should send a note to the teacher that morning so that the
child is not placed on the bus. Children who do not have
notes will be expected to board the bus. ALL parents
are expected to come into the building to “sign out their
child”. Parents will meet their child(ren) in the gym.
4. WHAT IF MY CHILD FORGOT
SOMETHING AT SCHOOL?
Students are not permitted to return to the classroom for
forgotten items after 4:00 PM.
Teachers lock
their classroom doors when they leave for the day to insure the
safety of the belongings of both the children and the teacher.
Custodians are assigned to various parts of the building and are
not available to unlock doors to obtain forgotten items.
It is the responsibility of the children (not parents) to
remember to take home any items that they will need for that
evening’s work. In the event of forgotten assignments,
textbooks, etc., children should make arrangements with a
classmate to borrow the needed items.
5.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WILL BE
ABSENT?
If your child
will be absent from school, please call the “Absentee Phone
Line” by 9:00 AM.
610-705-6006 ext. 4
and state the date, your child’s name, your child’s teacher, and
the reason for the absence.
6. WHAT
IS THE PROCEDURE FOR EXCUSE NOTES?
When a child is absent from school a note written by the parent
or guardian must be submitted to the classroom teacher within
five days of the child’s return to school or the absence
will be considered unlawful. This is in addition to calling the
Absentee Phone Line. Blank excuse notes can be found
here.
7.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR
EDUCATIONAL TRIPS?
Any parent
who wishes to take a child out of school for the purpose of an
educational trip must complete and submit for approval an
Adult
Sponsored trip
form at least
five (5) days prior to the start of the trip. Any work
missed must be completed in a timely manner.
8.
WHAT ABOUT BUSING?
Students are NOT permitted to ride a different bus
to or from school. Arrangements for traveling to or from
another student’s home must be worked out between parents. |
