Policies and Procedures of the Media Center

During the day the Media Center is always open.  All classes visit the Media Center on a weekly basis for book selection and are permitted to check out books at that time as well as other times throughout the week.  This weekly scheduled class is also used for instruction and literature enjoyment with Mrs. Holler.  The following are the check out procedures for each grade level:

Kindergarten and first Grade:  one book for one week

Second grade:  two books for one week

Third grade:  two books for two weeks

Fourth grade:  three books for two weeks

Limerick students are strongly encouraged to return their books on time during their weekly scheduled library class.  A yearly tally is kept for all of the classes, and a special award is presented at the end of the class period for each class that has no late books.  A special award may also be earned for having a “quiet class” each week.  The class with the highest total number of awards at the end of the year is given a special surprise in June.

The Media Center does not charge a fine for overdue books, but students will not be permitted to check out additional books until all late books have been returned.  If a book is lost or damaged, the student must reimburse the Media Center for the cost of the book.  If the book is found after reimbursement, the cost will be refunded to the student.

The Limerick Elementary Media Center attempts to meet and supplement the needs of all students and faculty.  The Media Center purchases books and audio-visual materials on a yearly basis to supplement the school's curriculum and for enrichment.  These materials are selected with the utmost care, so that the Media Center can provide books that stand the “test of time”.
