The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is comprised of
teachers, guidance counselors, the school nurse, a building
administrator, and outside consultants. The team works together to
help students who are “at-risk” of not succeeding in 7th
Grade Center.
All SAP team members have received training that enables
them to identify and intervene with students who are “at-risk” for
substance abuse, depression, suicide, eating disorders, and/or other
emotional concerns. “At-risk” students can be referred to the SAP
team by teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, classmates,
or parents. Students can also refer themselves.
At the start of each school year, all 7th
grade students are informed of the SAP process through the
participation in an introductory lesson taught by a SAP team member.
The Student Assistance Team offers a variety of Student Support
Groups and an in-school Mentoring Program. In addition, the SAP team
also provides Drug and Alcohol Assessments and Mental Health
Assessments as needed with parental permission.
