Spring-Ford Area School District

            The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is comprised of teachers, guidance counselors, the school nurse, a building administrator, and outside consultants.  The team works together to help students who are “at-risk” of not succeeding in 7^th Grade Center.

            All SAP team members have received training that enables them to identify and intervene with students who are “at-risk” for substance abuse, depression, suicide, eating disorders, and/or other emotional concerns.  “At-risk” students can be referred to the SAP team by teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, classmates, or parents.  Students can also refer themselves.

            At the start of each school year, all 7^th grade students are informed of the SAP process through the participation in an introductory lesson taught by a SAP team member. The Student Assistance Team offers a variety of Student Support Groups and an in-school Mentoring Program. In addition, the SAP team also provides Drug and Alcohol Assessments and Mental Health Assessments as needed with parental permission.
