Oaks Elementary School Recycling

 In April of 2007, one of our first grade students, Will, put a challenge to the Oaks staff and students:  "Let's clean up our Earth!"  During the school-wide, morning TV announcements on April 23rd, Will urged Oaks to step it up and recycle.

Will, with the support of his family and teacher, suggested that Oaks start recycling plastic drink bottles used by students at lunch.  After discussing it with Mr. Moyer, our principal, and staff members, students are now recycling their lunch bottles!  An assembly by Abitibi on paper recycling (see below) was also held 5/18 in conjunction with our Pro-Social Assembly in which Will was commended for his great recycling efforts!

 

Update:

As of September of 2007, all plastic bottles are being recycled in the entire district!  This includes all milk and water bottles used by students and staff!

 

 

 Recycle Paper Products with Abitibi Paper Retriever - look for the green bin in the far left corner of the Oaks School parking lot. 

Drop off ALL your:  Magazines, Shopping catalogs, Newspaper, Office & School Papers, Mail.

Please do NOT include:  Plastic, Glass, Metal or Trash.

The bin can be used by any and all members of the local community!

Supports Oaks Elementary School thru the Oaks PTA.

 Update:

The bin continues to fill from the school and community contributions.  Each "weigh-in" earns our PTA money while helping the environment!

 

 

 

 Recycle Used Printer Cartridges and Cell Phones!  Keep your empty printer cartridges and used cell phones and send them into school with your child. Please do not send in toners; we cannot use them! Make sure the printer cartridges are in baggies because they do leak. PTA mails these cartridges and cell phones into the recycling company and can earn anywhere from $1 to $8 per cartridge and cell phone in addition to helping the environment!

Supports Oaks Elementary School thru the Oaks PTA.
 

 Update:

Starting January of 2008, seven other schools in our district started contributing their cartridges to this recycling program!
