Student Council

Objectives

To represent the student body in all matters pertaining to the betterment of the school.

To foster communication among students, administrators, staff, and the community.

To promote, organize and execute activities that encourage student pride and school spirit.

To install democratic ideals, provide an outlet for student expression, and a forum for aiding in the solution of school problems.

Activities

Annually we host the Homecoming Dance and Spirit Week with activities like homeroom trivia, door decorating contests and spirit days that require participants to dress up to show their school spirit.  Prizes are awarded for the most school spirit.

We Host the Holiday Dance which is also usually linked to the organization's holiday community service activity.

Both this year and last year students could be admitted to the dance free if they brought 4 cans of food.  We collected several hundred cans each year and the food was then donated to our local branch of Project Outreach.

Data Match is an annual fundraiser that is usually carried out around Valentine's Day.  We send away for printouts that pair students with their top 10 matches in the school.

We held a car wash that brought in more than $400 that was donated to the Manderach Playground fund.

In the past, members have been recruited to participate in the Greater Philadelphia High School Partnership.  This organization, which is run through Penn, pairs city and suburban high schools to carry out mutually service projects.  Projects have included activity days to promote self esteem in young children and volunteering in homeless and women's shelters.

Student council officers attend monthly student Forum meetings at high schools throughout Montgomery county.  At these meetings they participate in leadership and team building activities with students from other schools.  Spring-Ford has hosted several.
