Art 001

Grades 10, 11, 12 6 Periods 1 credit

Students in this art course will use a variety of media and techniques to create original works of art. Combining techniques learned from art of the past with challenging classroom assignments, the student will experience new opportunities for creativity. A firm foundation in the basic art concepts of drawing, design, composition and color will be covered through a variety of interesting projects. Assignments will include: drawing, graphics, print making, ceramics, and pastel painting.

This class is designed to be the starting point for all senior high art classes. Students with an interest in improving art skills for personal enrichment and students with career goals will find this foundations course a valuable background for future art experiences. This course is the prerequisite for all Art major courses (002, 003, 004, 005) excluding Jewelry classes.
