How Do I Apply for Working Papers?

1)      Working Papers can be picked up and will be issued at the 9th Grade Center -  400 S. Lewis Rd. (610-705-6011) and the 10-12 Center –  350 S. Lewis Rd. (610-705-6001) during the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, unless school is closed for holidays or for inclement weather.

Summer hours do vary so please call ahead.

2)      Parent or legal guardian of student must stop by the main office of the 9th Grade Center or the appropriate grade level office at the 10-12 Center to complete Section A and B of the working paper application form for those students 14 through 17 years of age living in the Spring-Ford Area School District.  Students who are residents of the Spring-Ford Area School District attending Spring-Ford schools and students attending a private or parochial school - all must show a birth certificate, passport or driver’s license at this time.

3)      The working paper application is then taken to prospective employers.  When the student is hired the employer will complete section C of the application.

4)      After the application has been completed by the business that promises to employ the student and the students family doctor completes his portion, section D ( if  the student has had a physical in the past 12 months the physician or nurse practitioner will sign the application), the application is then brought back to the high school by the parent or student and a permit is issued. No sports physicals will be accepted by the state.

5)      Students who are 14 and 15 must go through the process whenever a new job is secured and/or when they reach the age of 16. Students who are 16 and 17 will receive a “blue card” permanent work permit (issued by the school) that allows them to go from job to job using the same permit.

Note: All students who work, ages 14 through 17, and those students 18 and older still attending High School, must have a work permit in order to be legally employed.

We'd love to hear from you.
