How Do I Apply for Working Papers?

1)   Working Papers can be picked up and will be issued at the 10-12 Grade Center during the hours of 8 AM to 4 PM, unless school is closed for holidays or for inclement weather.  The address is 350 S. Lewis Rd., Royersford  PA  19468.

2)      Parent or legal guardian (the student does not need to be present) must stop by the main office of the 10-12 Grade Center to complete Section A and B of the working paper application form for those students 14 through 17 years of age living in the Spring-Ford Area School District.  Students who are residents of the Spring-Ford Area School District attending Spring-Ford schools or attending a private or parochial school must show a birth certificate at this time.

3)      The working paper application is then taken to prospective employers.  When the student is hired the employer will complete section C of the application.

4)      After the application has been completed by the business that promises to employ the student and the family doctor completes his portion, section D (Even if the student has a current physical on file – the form must still be signed by a physician or nurse practitioner) the application is then brought back to the high school by the parent or student and a permit is issued.

5)      Students who are 14 and 15 must go through the process whenever a new job is secured and/or when they reach the age of 16. Students who are 16 and 17 will receive a “blue card” permanent work permit (issued by the school) that allows them to go from job to job using the same permit.

Note: All students who work, ages 14 through 17, must have a work permit in order be legally employed.
