Classes visit the library once five day cycle for a lesson and book exchange.  Additionally, students may visit the library any time during the school day with permission from their teacher.

The borrowing period and number of books allowed varies by grade level.  All students are encouraged to return materials by the due date.  No fines are assessed for overdue materials, but students with overdue materials are unable to check out additional materials until the overdue materials are either returned or brought into the library to be renewed.

Borrowing Guidelines

Kindergarten: 1 book from a small selection of books (chosen by library staff to coincide with weekly theme) for 1 week during the 1st and 2nd marking periods; 1 book selected by the student from the Easy section for 1 week during the 3rd and 4th marking periods.

First Grade: 1 book from the Easy section for 1 week during the 1st and 2nd marking periods; 2 books from the Easy section for 1 week during the 3rd and 4th marking periods.  Any book may be renewed for an additional week one time.

Second Grade: 2 books from the Easy section for 2 weeks during the 1st and 2nd marking periods; 2 books from either library section for 2 weeks during the 3rd and 4th marking periods.  Any book may be renewed for an additional 2 weeks one time.

Third Grade: 2 books for 2 weeks.  Any book may be renewed for an additional 2 weeks one time. During the 3rd marking period, students will be allowed to check out 1 magazine overnight, in addition to their 2 books.  Magazines are due at the beginning of the day.  Three late returns of a magazine will result in loss of magazine check-out privileges for the remainder of the school year.

Fourth Grade: 2 books for 2 weeks and 1 magazine overnight.  Any book may be renewed for an additional 2 weeks one time.  Magazines are due at the beginning of the day.  Three late returns of a magazine will result in loss of magazine check-out privileges for the remainder of the school year.

Lost/Damaged Books

Students must reimburse the library for the cost of a lost or damaged book.  This money offsets the cost to replace the book or to purchase another book if the title can not be replaced.  Payments may be made in cash or by check made payable to Spring City HSA.

If the book is later found in good condition and returned to the library, the student will be reimbursed any fees they have paid for the book.

Lost/Damaged Magazines

Students must reimburse the library $5.00 for a lost magazine.  Payments may be made in cash or by check made payable to Spring City HSA.

If the magazine is later found in good condition and returned to the library, the student will be reimbursed.
