Spring-Ford March of Dimes
Thank you for your interest in the
SFASD Children's Item Consignment Sale as part of the District’s
Annual March of Dimes Campaign!
We
will be selling children’s items at our sale and will be
adhering to sale guidelines as follows:
This
sale will again be run very similar to several local consignment
sales; and each seller will have the discretion of the price of each
item. The entire sale room will be organized by specific item and
size. This will assist buyers to get in and out quickly. It will
also mean that prices of items are firm and there will not be
negotiating with the sellers. Items not sold at the sale will be
available for seller pick up the week following the sale, and items
not picked up by the designated deadline will be donated to local
charitable organizations.
Items
can be donated outright or sold for money by a designated seller.
In order to sell items for a monetary return you must pay an upfront
seller fee of $25. 100% of the $25 seller fee will be donated to
the March of Dimes.
If you
would like to donate items you would not pay the seller fee,
however, if possible, we would appreciate your tagging your
items when you donate them. 100% of the profits from donated item
sales will be donated to the March of
Dimes.
All
items will be consolidated for sale by size; gender; and item (for
example all boys sleepers, size 0-3; girls jackets size 24mo-2T,
books; pull toys, etc.). In order to sell items at the sale, all
items must be tagged for sale by each seller prior to
the drop off date. Each seller will have to tag their items before
drop off, and you will be given a seller number to use after we
receive your $25 fee. Your seller number will identify your
returned profits’ at the end of the sale. Sellers will receive a
voucher to be paid to you for all your sales after the sale date.
Prior
to the District paying profits to each seller, each person will be
given an opportunity to make a donation of their choosing to the
March of Dimes and they would
then receive the balance of their profits. The donation at this
time is entirely up to the seller, to make or not make; in any
amount of their choosing.

Tagging
Items
All
items must be tagged for sale prior to dropping off at the
Intermediate School on March 17,
2010. Items must have the following information and must be
secured to the hanger or on to the item itself.
1.
Seller
Number
(issued at the time of receipt of seller fee) or DONATE
2.
Brief
Item Description
(ex. Blue striped onesie w/puppy on pocket, set of 8 rubber Pooh
Blocks, Car Seat Mirror, etc.)
3.
Price
Please
remember that only items with tags will actually be SOLD at the sale
so it is in everyone’s best interest to make sure the tags stay on
the item. All clothing must be on hangers and tags must be
secured to the actual hanger or to the item itself (safety pins,
string, etc.). All toys and small items must be placed in Ziploc
bags with the tags taped to the bags.

Pricing Items
When
pricing items you may want to do some research on-line and see what
the item sells for retail—then mark down what you feel is
reasonable. A rule of thumb might be to price the item at what you
think you might pay for it, keeping in mind that you would be glad
to get some return on your product. You can also visit some local
consignment shops to see what they price items at to give you an
idea of what you might get for the item. Be cautious to not
overprice your item—better to get some cash back than to get your
items back!
Staples and Wal-Mart sell packs of tags with string at a very
reasonable price.
Volunteers Needed
We
need volunteers for the following:
-
Distribute Flyers for Event
-
Sorting and Tagging of Donated items after school on
March 15, 16, & 17.
-
Volunteer workers at the Sale on
March 20 (Cashier Table,
Refreshment Table, General Assistance)
We
need the following items for donation:
-
Clothing racks—these can be returned
-
Children’s hangers (for donated items)
-
Refreshment Table Items
-
Plastic Bins (for items such as toys)---these can be returned
The
March of Dimes has benefitted
from our sale each year and we hope it continues to be a top
District fundraising event.

The following information is from another
consignment sale and offers some general suggestions regarding
items:
Clothing
-
The better your clothes look, the
better they will sell! All clothing should be clean and stain
free. Please check for stains, signs or wear, fading, broken
zippers, frayed hems, missing buttons or loose buttons, etc.
-
You can purchase inexpensive
children’s hangers at Kmart, Wal-Mart, and Dollar Stores
-
$1 rule:
If you have a single item that you value at less than $1, please
group it together with like items so that they will equal a
value of at least $1. COMPLETE OUTFITS sell MUCH better than
single items.
-
Safety pin all sets and accessories
securely to each other. All pieces need to be viewable without
unpinning them. Also, dress or two-piece hangers may be used to
display sets or dresses with bloomers
-
All pants must be pinned directly
to the hanger (use extra large safety pins/zip ties), Do not
fold them over hanger.
Toys
Toys should include ALL
parts. Any small or loose parts can be packaged in a Ziploc bag.
Attach the bag to the main item with packing tape. If a toy requires
batteries to operate, they must be included to insure the
buyer the item works. Attach tag to the item using packing tape, zip
ties or string. Make sure tag is secure. We will NOT be able to sell
any item without a tag. Puzzles are easily packaged by wrapping in
saran wrap and then sealing with packing tape on the back. (This
keeps all the pieces together!)
Bedding
All bedding MUST be
placed in either a bedding bag or a Ziploc bag. Ziploc makes an
extra large bag that holds infant/toddler bedding. Please include
all important information regarding the bedding set being sold (ex.
6 piece infant bedding set includes: quilt, bumper pads, dust
ruffle, sheet, rug, and diaper stacker). The more information you
give the buyer, the better the chance your item will sell. Attach
the tag to the outside of bag with tape or zip tie. Be sure the tag
is secure.
Books and Videos
Books
– Attach tag to the back cover of the book with tape. Multiple
items can be placed in a Ziploc bag with tag attached to the front
with tape.
Videos/DVDs – Make
sure that videos/DVDs are in working condition. Be sure proper
video/DVD is in correct case. Attach tag to the back cover of the
video/DVD with tape. Multiple items can be placed in a Ziploc bag
with tag attached to the front with tape.
Loose Articles
Bibs, bottles,
barrettes and bows, sippy cups, smaller toys, etc. must be in clear
Ziploc bags with tag placed inside of the bag or taped on the
outside of the bag.
Instruction
Manuals
It is a great selling
feature to include any instruction manuals for the items, if you
have them.
