Hello, my name is Katie Bala. I am a Second Grade
teacher at Oaks Elementary School. I would like to take
this opportunity to introduce myself.
I am originally from Phoenixville, PA and
and attended Phoenixville Area High School.
I received my
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary and Early
Childhood Education from Millersville University in 2000. I
completed my Masters Degree in Educational Developmental
Strategies from Wilkes
University this summer. I am currently a National
Board Certification teaching candidate and hope to join the
ranks of the nation's most accomplished teachers who help
students develop the necessary skills to thrive in school.
Currently, I reside at The Hill School,
with my husband, who works in the Admissions Office, and our
two sons, Joshua and Jackson.
I have been teaching Second Grade in Spring-ford Area School
District since 2002. From 2002-2007 I taught at Brooke
Elementary School. During that time I was a grade level
lead teacher for Math and Social Studies. I fulfilled the
role of lead chairperson for Second Grade for two school
years, and have also had the privilege to help develop and
write the Second Grade Social Studies curriculum for our
district. I have extensive training in web design, and
utilize my class web site to provide my students and their
parents/guardians with pertinent information about our
classroom.
In August 2009 I returned to teaching after a one and a half year
maternity leave.
I was thrilled to become a member of the Oaks Elementary
School family. Oaks has proven to be a warm and nurturing learning
community.
I hope you find our classroom web site to be useful,
informative and easy to navigate. Be sure to check
back from time to time because updates occur daily.
Don't forget to sign our Guestbook before you go!

Warmest regards,
Mrs. Katie Bala
