Weekly Updates, News and Announcements
|
This week's message- Please help your child rehearse music for our big holiday concert. The third grade will perform on December 16th. Have any traditions you'd like to share? Please let me know!
Morning Meeting- We have shared about our siblings or pets, our favorite fall activities, and our book reports. We are now sharing about our hobbies and/or collections. Ask your child what their favorite greeting, celebration, and sharing topics have been.
News- Holiday concert- students have music folders that should be kept in their book bags so they are ready for rehearsals and practice. TISSUES- 'Tis the season for colds and allergies. Tissues, washable markers, and crayons are always welcome.
Language Arts- Our new unit is called "Getting the Job Done" and our first story is about authors. In class, students get 15-20 minutes to read silently everyday. This could be their book report book, or a current chapter book. Please encourage your child to read at home as well, marking pages down on the homework reading log. Our class goal is 20 nights of reading per month.
Math- We are currently in unit 4. Review basic addition and subtraction facts now to make multiplication and division easier later.
Science- Ask your child about our Environmental Trip. What is MAD? What main things do all living things need to survive? Social Studies- Who was William Penn and where did the name Pennsylvania come from? Why are we thankful for Ben Franklin?

Just a thought...
We could learn a lot from a box of crayons: some are sharp, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all exist very nicely in the same box.
