April 2010 is here!

Yes, I'm expecting! Thanks to all the well-wishes! The Hauseman family looks to welcome a baby boy sometime near the end of May!

Career Day was a success!

Upper Providence hosted it's 6th annual career day for 3rd and 4th grade students on Friday, March 26th in the afternoon. our students were able to visit with professionals and learn about the possibilities that await them! We had many of our own parents from upes volunteering as presenters, as well as presenters from our community. We had a banker, a chef, a chiropractor, a cosmetologist, a dentist, a dog groomer, a dance instructor, an international businessman, a personal trainer, an fbi agent, a tv cameraman from channel 3 philadelphia, a realtor, a veterinarian, nasa's marshall flight center via videoconference, and a parent from the computer science field come in. it was a truly rewarding and exciting day for our students!

Pro-Social Program

We're hitting the high seas this year with a fun-filled nautical adventure theme. Our school/ship, the S.S. Providence has set sail for a year full of good choices. Students can "set their sails," for good choices by earning those blue tickets! We continue to choose one student ticket from each class on Fridays for an individual prize!

All aboard mates!

Class blue tickets have also continued this year. Classes can earn a special activity aboard the ship. As a class, you can earn a blue ticket for good manners, good listening skills, super behavior in special, etc..

At our first School-Wide-Meeting on 10/2, students were introduced to our crewmembers, Captain Patschke, Cruise Director Hauseman, First Mate Culp, Skipper West, and the mysterious Captain Overboard. Captain Overboard has been sending messages (via bottle/video) to our ship and will continue to throughout the year in hopes that we might find him at an unknown island location. The students seemed excited to use good choices in order to get Captain Overboard to send more clues. They get very excited when a clue mysteriously turns up in their classroom!

CAPTAIN OVERBOARD UPDATE

The clues first led us to the island of Iceland; however in a video message from Captain Overboard, students learned that indeed he tricked us and he was not at this location. With some disappointment, the crew turned the ship around and headed south as clues led us to Jamaica! Crewmembers searched the island and there was no trace of Overboard. First Mate Culp then directed the ship to head East and clues directed us to Madagascar. Alas he fooled us again, but we did find his bird Fred! We then headed to Sri Lanka with no luck and now in a surprise message, Captain Overboard has directed us to the island of Tahiti for important clues.  Stay tuned...
