SFASD Messages

Good afternoon Spring-Ford families,

As shared yesterday, the Curriculum and Instruction Department has been developing meaningful enrichment activities that are now available online. These activities are designed to reinforce skills and allow opportunities to continue practicing previously taught skills while at home. In addition to the enrichment activities, we are introducing RAMful Learning activities on the RCTV YouTube Channel!

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) recognizes that the rapidly evolving pandemic may make it impossible to implement continuity of education plans. According to the PDE, unless a school district is able to guarantee that ALL students in grades K-12 have access to technology devices, internet, and special education support at home, school districts may not use this time to deliver new instruction. As with many surrounding districts, our focus going forward is to support learning skills and to maintain momentum as much as possible.

Parents of Students in Grades K-6: please click here for a grade-specific schedule of enrichment activities including Math, ELA, STEM, Reading/Writing, Science, and more.

Parents of Students in Grades 7-12: please log in to your Skyward account and encourage your students to log into their Skyward account, daily for updates from their specific subject teacher. Very special thanks to our secondary teachers for providing these enrichment opportunities for their specific subject.

If your student has younger siblings, I encourage them to spend time working through their enrichment activities together. You can also click here to learn how to create a family-based learning schedule for the week.

Also, I would like to assure families that no personal belongings have been or will be thrown out during this time. All personal items will remain exactly where they were left when students left school on Thursday.

As far as the end of the third marking period, we can confirm that this date will be extended. We will be working with our principals to select the new date as we get closer to the return to school.

Thank you for your continued support as we work through this together!

Thank you,
Dr. Kelly Murray
Director of Curriculum and Instruction
