SFASD Messages

Good afternoon Spring-Ford community,

As you may have already heard, in an effort to continue to protect the health and safety of students and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Tom Wolf announced that all schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. The governor made the decision in consultation with Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine and Secretary of Education Pedro A. Rivera.

Although our physical buildings are closed, teaching and learning will continue online.

We are extremely concerned about all of our students, especially our seniors, who we know were looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments with their families, teachers, and friends. We hope to have answers to many of your questions, such as how we will proceed with commencement, sending transcripts to colleges and universities, the status of summer programs, sending field trip refunds, and how families can collect personal belongs from schools, to name a few, in the near future.

While this is extremely disappointing for all of us and not the outcome that we were hoping for, it is a necessary step in order for us to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and making sure we keep our community safe. Rest assured that during the school closures we will continue providing services including online learning support and free meals to our families.

I encourage you to use the resources on our COVID-19 Resource Page, including:

  • Mental Health Supports
  • Senior Citizen Care
  • Financial Hardship
  • Food Resources
  • Health and Wellness

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Together or apart, we are Spring-Ford Proud.

Thank you,
Dr. David Goodin
