Spring-Ford is Future Ready

The Pennsylvania Department of Education just launched the Future Ready PA Index, an online, one-stop shop that provides a clear and easy-to-navigate platform for viewing information on student and school success. The Future Ready PA Index moves beyond focusing solely on standardized test results to evaluate success by using a collection of indicators, which illustrate academic proficiency, college and career readiness, and more.

The dashboard is easy to navigate, searchable by district, school, career and technical center, or location; and includes basic information and demographic data for each school. Take a comprehensive look at how our schools are doing in educating and preparing students for success by visiting the new Future Ready PA Index: futurereadypa.org

Spring-Ford Act 339 Presentation

On October 16, 2018, Kim Bast, Director of Curriculum, presented the Spring-Ford Area School District Act 339 Plan.

Pennsylvania requires all school districts to have a K-12 School Counseling Plan as part of Chapter 339. This plan addresses the importance of career planning for all students related to labor market projections and workforce needs. The Spring-Ford Area School District's Chapter 339 Plan aligns with the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Academic Standards for Career Education and Work. There are four main standards concentrations categories. They include:

  • Career Awareness and Preparation (discovering self-awareness, interests and relationships);
  • Career Acquisition (getting a job);
  • Career Retention and Advancement (keeping a job);
  • Entrepreneurship (creating a job).

The Spring-Ford Act 339 Plan prepares students for college and/or career after High School and aids the efforts of the district's school counselors in helping students focus on academic, career and social/emotional development throughout their elementary and secondary school experience. Spring-Ford's Act 339 plan will meet the goal set forth by PDE: "Pennsylvania learners will be prepared for meaningful engagement in post-secondary education, in workforce training, in career opportunities, and as responsible, involved citizens."

Spring-Ford QPR Training

December 12, 2018: QPR Training

Spring-Ford Area School District, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Mental Health, have been training the school administration, faculty and staff members on a suicide prevention method entitled: Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR).

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone for help. Our goal is to share this information and training with our parents, guardians and community to better prepare everyone in the event they encounter someone in need.

QPR is about saving lives and providing support for one another.
