November 2019 MESSAGE FROM DR. CARBOY RES Families,
Thank you for contributing to our Dance- A-Thon School Fundraiser! The PTO and our staff have worked together to make it a great success! We thank all of you for your involvement and support. As we head into the month of November there are many activities and events taking place including American Education Week, Veteran's Day Activities, and Parent/Teacher Conferences. We ask all parents to participate and schedule a conference with their child's teacher. This not only shows your child that you value education but that you are interested in their school career and in what they are learning. Keep in mind that report cards will be available at the end of the day on November 13th. Take some time to review your child's progress and give them a high-five, hand shake, or hug for their accomplishments. Wishing you and your families a festive, healthy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!

Nov. 25 8:00am - 3:30pm & 5:00pm-7:30pm (Gr. K-4) Nov. 26 8:00am-3:30pm (Kindergarten Only)
Important Reminders Lateness - When your child arrives after 9:00am they are considered late to school. Please be sure that you walk your child into school so that you may fill out a late slip. Without a late slip the tardiness may be considered unlawful. Also, please remember to call the absentee line even if your child is going to be late. It will eliminate the office the office from having to contact you during your busy morning. The number is 610-705-6005 and Press #4 to reach the attendance line. Please keep in mind that we need to account for every student who is not in school each day. PLUS, remember to send in a written excuse for your child absence.
Changes in Dismissals – Please keep in mind that changes in dismissal should be the exception, not the norm. When a call comes into the office with a change in dismissal for your student, a call then has to be made into the classroom disrupting the teacher from teaching. This can also cause confusion for your child. Please follow the documented dismissal plan for your child at 3:40 each day. If a change must be made, a note needs to be sent in with your child at the start of the day. Phone calls should be for emergency purposes only.
Forgotten Items?
To help streamline the foot traffic coming into the office, please utilize the Forgotten Items Table inside the front door of the school. There you should label your child's item with his/her name, grade and teacher (using the post it notes and pen provided on the table). Some of our 4th grade safeties will deliver the items at 11:00am. Anything dropped off after 11:00 will be delivered the next school day.
Please don't leave any money on this table. Take lunch money home and send in with your child the next school day. Your child will receive a lunch credit if necessary.

NEWS FROM NURSE SCHAUDER I have completed State mandated growth screenings for all RES students. I have also completed vision screenings for all 4th graders and vision & hearing screenings for 3rd graders. Next up second graders! Remember to send students who use glasses with clean ones to school every day. If your child receives a referral, please have a doctor complete the form and return it to the nurse.
Fall is the time when we start catching more colds, flus, and illnesses. From our custodial staff to our teachers, we are working hard here at RES to keep germs away! Please help us on your end with the following tips:
1. Handwashing: It's your best defense! At least 20 seconds with soap and warm water...often!!!!
2. Cough and Sneeze Etiquette: Teach students to cough/sneeze into the "crook" of the elbow. If they use hands or a tissue, go back to tip #1 and wash hands!!
3. Surfaces: Disinfect commonly touched surfaces at home.
4. Hygiene: Teach kids to keep fingers out of mouths, noses, and eyes.
5. When to stay home: If you student has had diarrhea, vomiting or a fever in the last 24 hours, keep them home! See the complete list of when to keep a student home in the Spring-ford student handbook.
6. Flu Shot: Consider getting a Flu shot. The CDC recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months to get the flu vaccine before the end of October. As always, speak to your pediatrician first.
