TAKE NOTE: COMMITTEE UPDATES Board Committee Updates Curriculum and Technology Committee Meeting The Curriculum and Technology Committee met on January 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. Dr. Kelly Murray, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, provided an overview of an article in a recent PSBA publication that discussed the top trends to watch in K-12 education. Dr. Murray provided insight as to how Spring-Ford was already addressing these trends and will continue to seek ways to further expand and develop. Dr. Murray provided updated information regarding Act 158- Updates to Graduation Requirements and gave a recap on the first Early Childhood Collaboration Meeting, which was held on January 17, 2020. Additional curricular updates were provided pertaining to Math, Science, Music, ELA and Social Studies.

Policy Committee Meeting The Policy Committee met on January 13, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. The committee discussed many open policies, reviewed the need to update many current policies, and reviewed new policies moved forward to the board for a First Reading:

Extracurricular Committee Meeting The Extracurricular Committee met on January 7, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. The committee welcomed new members David Shafer and Diane Sullivan before presentations from:
The Extracurricular Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the School Board regarding the offerings in athletics, fine arts, clubs, intramurals and other student programs. The committee meets with athletic directors, intramural coordinators, club advisors, fine arts directors and participating students to gain insight on the variety and quality of the current offerings. The committee makes recommendations to the School Board for changes, deletions or additions to the extra-curricular program.
The next meeting will be March 3, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.
Finance Committee Meeting The Finance Committee met on January 14, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. Mr. James Fink, CFO, reviewed with the committee the district's liquidity, revenues, expenditures, and assessments, as well as discussed current Real Estate Transfer Taxes. He also provided a Food Service update, indicating the district has already sold 9,000 more lunches than the prior year.
Mr. Fink also provided a timeline for the 2020-2021 Budget. The Preliminary Budget was posted to the Spring-Ford website on January 13, 2020 for public review. The Preliminary Budget was approved by the Board on January 27, 2020.

Property Committee Meeting The Property Committee met on January 14, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. Mr. Robert Hunter, Director of Planning, Operations and Facilities, gave an update on the High School Expansion Projects and the upcoming Demographic and Enrollment Study. Mr. Hunter will provide an in-depth presentation on the study during the Property Meeting on March 10, 2020.
