Student Spotlight: 10-Day Film Fest

Broadcast Students

Spring-Ford Area High School Broadcast students will receive national recognition on June 10, 2018 at the 10 Day Film Fest National Finals.

The 10 Day Film Challenge is an intense and invigorating 10 school days in which teams of students make a movie - write, shoot, edit and score it - during their film class periods only, in 10 days!

On Day 1, the Challenge will release to the students the character including his/her backstory, a prop, a line of dialogue, a cinematic technique and genre that must be included in their movie. Then, 10 school days later, a 3-4 minute movie must be complete. Finally, the best films, depending upon the state, will be shown at a local theater or online as part of an awards ceremony.

In 2011, the 10 Day Film Challenge began with three NJ high schools. The 2018 Challenge has grown to 700 films created by 5,000 students in 170 high schools across 25 states, 8 countries and 3 continents.

Congratulations to these student filmmakers!

Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross and the 8th Grade Center.

Volunteer Spotlight: SNAP Review

The Spring-Ford Students Need and Alternate Party (SNAP) committee welcomed 500 students to the annual Post-Prom event on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and community members, SFAHS juniors and seniors experienced a night they'll never forget, as the high school was transformed into the quintessential Beach Bash.

Spring-Ford SNAP is a group of Spring-Ford Area School District parents and community members working with the Spring Ford Education Foundation in an effort to provide a spectacular FREE post-prom event for all Spring-Ford Area High School juniors and seniors, whether they attend the prom or not. The annual post-prom party provides a safe post-prom alternative, focusing on the safety of SFASD students and the Spring-Ford community.

Prom night is statistically one of the most dangerous nights of the year for high school students. SNAP is committed to keeping the Spring-Ford community safe and free from drug and alcohol-related tragedy.
