Dear Spring-Ford Area School District Community,

Student learning is the primary objective for schools. While there are many secondary objectives school personnel must address, the primary reason for the existence of schools is to provide an environment whereby students are engaged in meaningful interactions with information from a variety of disciplines. There is a need to cultivate intellect through the mastery of facts and timeless knowledge – educated people should be familiar with a wide range of classical works. However, knowledge is not static, it is an ongoing event. There are essential skills and subjects that allow an educated person to function at a basic level in modern society. Progression through the learning continuum needs to allow students to develop their own unique interests through the application of knowledge gained at earlier stages of academic development. The result is personal fulfillment for students, as well as significant benefits for society at large, as learning is applied solving “real world” problems and issues. This type of educational experience is gained through effective instructional practices at the classroom level.

The Spring-Ford Area School District Board of Directors, Administration, Faculty and Support Personnel are committed to the education of your children. The education of a child is an ongoing process and we here at Spring-Ford are honored that you have chosen our school district to be your education provider.

After leading the Spring-Ford Area School District for nearly ten years, Superintendent Dr. David Goodin submitted his resignation on December 17, 2020. Dr. Goodin accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools in Sampson County, North Carolina. Click "read more" for more information.

Online Learning - December 17

Due to the anticipated snowstorm and out of an abundance of caution, the Spring-Ford Area School District will continue with online learning for all grades K-12 tomorrow, Thursday, December 17th.

Online Learning - December 16

Due to the anticipated snowstorm, the Spring-Ford Area School District will move to online learning for all grades K-12 tomorrow, Wednesday, December 16th. 

For K-6 Students: The day may include both live and asynchronous activities. All classes will begin their day with a class meeting. Students can access the virtual meeting using the Canvas page, much like when our classes were virtual. 

 

For 7-12 Students: the day will remain asynchronous, and all students will complete work posted to Canvas. Teachers will be available for office hours by appointment.

All students who are currently participating in In-Person Learning will return to In-Person Learning tomorrow, December 8, 2020. Tomorrow will be Day 5.

While we were planning to return to in-person learning tomorrow, there has been a significant increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Spring-Ford footprint including Limerick Township, Upper Providence Township, Royersford Borough, and Spring City Borough. As a result, we will delay the return to in-person learning for ALL schools at this time.

20-21 Reopening Update

This evening, the Board of School Directors voted for students in grades K-6 to return to in person learning beginning November 12, 2020 using a model that will also provide an option for those who choose to learn via a virtual platform. The Board of School Directors voted to hold a Special Board Meeting on Monday, October 5, 2020 to further discuss options for students in grades 7-12.

Calendar Update

The first day of school will now be Tuesday, September 8, 2020 and the tentative last day of school will be June 22, 2021. If approved by PDE for the Flexible Instruction Day Program, the tentative last day of school will move to June 17, 2021.
