2024 Best Communities for Music Education
For the eighth year in a row, Spring-Ford Area School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation by the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Spring-Ford answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas. Please take a moment to congratulate your student's music teacher!

About The NAMM Foundation: The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 15,000 member companies and individual professionals. The foundation advances active participation in music-making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs. School Spotlight: Royersford Elementary School Pond Renovation
In 2007, Royersford Elementary School installed a school pond in the courtyard between the Kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms. The pond was part of a district wide effort to have more natural space at each school and featured a water feature, aquatic plants, and some fish. Since 2007, the courtyard, pond, and outdoor classroom has been maintained by various RES staff, students and volunteer parents. Focus chanced when COVID hit, and regular maintenance of the area fell behind. Since 2020, invasive pond lilies took over the space, leaving little room for the pond's remaining fish and snails. Thanks to an all-call from the school's Parent/Teacher Organization, Pondworks sent an amazing crew of four to drain, clean and power wash the pond.

If you would like to contribute to the RES PTO pond refresh project, you can reach out to the organization at royersfordpto@gmail.com.

Upcoming Blood Drive
Oaks Elementary is proud to be able to sponsor another blood drive with the American Red Cross on April 23, 2024 from 2 to 7 p.m. Make your appointment today! Go to Schedule a Blood, Platelet or Plasma Donation | American Red Cross (redcrossblood.org) and use sponsor code: oaks elementary

An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross and Oaks Elementary. If you don’t know if you’re eligible, show up to find out!

Thank you for making Oaks Elementary such a success. Let’s make an impact on April 23rd by adding it to our list of great accomplishments!
