SFAHS Theatre presents Big Fish
Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, BIG FISH is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.

SEPAC Meeting and Presentation
Kathleen Haigh, a dedicated advocate for special education, embarked on her entrepreneurial journey in March of 2022, establishing her own special education advocacy business. Motivated by a desire to further assist families, she expanded her services to include attending meetings with parents, reviewing evaluations, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and devising strategies to ensure students receive the necessary services and support to fulfill their potential.

Prior to this endeavor, Kathleen served as a Family Resource Specialist at the PEAL Center in Central Pennsylvania from 2016 to 2022. Covering 22 counties in the region, she provided support to families raising children with disabilities across the state. This experience highlighted the dire need for enhanced special education advocacy statewide.

As a mother of twins – a neurotypical daughter and a son diagnosed with autism at an early age – Kathleen's personal journey fueled her advocacy efforts. Through her advocacy, her son successfully integrated into regular education classes, graduated, and secured gainful employment. His inclusion even extended to being voted onto the Prom Court, an experience he cherished. Kathleen firmly believes that every family traverses its unique path.

Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, specifically Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, Kathleen's dedication to advocacy expanded beyond her business endeavors. In 2011, she joined the board of directors of the Autism Society Greater Harrisburg Area, where she eventually served as Vice President and President. Presently, she continues to support the organization as their Executive Assistant. Committed to empowering parents, Kathleen attributes her success to the guidance of remarkable mentors and remains steadfast in her resolve to pay it forward. She firmly believes that every child with a disability possesses gifts to offer the world and reflects, "If I had to do it all over again, I would, considering all that I have learned and how much it changed me for the better."

WHEN: Thursday, February 22, 2024
TIME: 7 p.m.
LOCATION: Zoom (Visit the SEPAC FB page for Zoom details)
TOPIC: Learn how to be an informed, confident, and composed advocate in IEP meetings and beyond
