Celebrate Spring-Ford's XL Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Day is typically recognized the first Tuesday of the month and usually falls in line with Teacher Appreciation Week. Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week of the month. This year, NEA and PTO Today pushed the week-long celebration to May 8-12, as the week prior isn’t an actual full week. Join Spring-Ford online in celebrating our teachers for an extra large Teacher Appreciation Week celebration from May 1-12. Check Spring-Ford's Facebook and Instagram accounts for teacher highlights, a special Teacher Appreciation video on May 2nd, and a message to our School Nurses on May 10th.

Live From the Red Carpet Prom Show
Just like the Oscars, Emmys, or People’s Choice, Ram Country TV will be Live from the Red Carpet at the Senior Prom on May 13th! Hosts Kelly German and John Brennan will all the important questions: how'd you get here, where'd you get your dress, what are you most looking forward to, and so much more! New this year, Man on the Street Bill Culp will catch prom-goers on their way in.

Mrs. German shopped the Spring-Ford SNAP Prom Dress Boutique for her show attire, and Mr. Brennan will be decked out in a tux from the Red Carpet Show Sponsor, Sagets Formal Wear. Live From the Red Carpet will air on RCTV’s YouTube channel starting at 5:50 p.m.

Student Spotlight: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) 
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a club of student members preparing for careers in business or who are simply interested in competing in a business event of interest. In Pennsylvania there are roughly 295 active chapters organized into 27 different regions. Congratulations to all the Future Business Leaders of America members who participated in the Regional Leadership competition in 2022-2023. This year, Spring-Ford had 20 FBLA members compete in the (RLC) Regional Leadership Competition in their business event of choice. From April 10-8twe had a number of Spring-Ford students participate in FBLA's State Leadership Competition. The following students competed in their business event of choice and were up against strong competition.

There were over 4000 students who competed in this years SLC, so just making it to this level was a huge accomplishment. Ankita Chakroborty placed 1st in her event, Help Desk, at the SLC and now has the opportunity to compete this summer in the National Leadership Competition in Atlanta Georgia. Congratulations to all!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in the U.S. since 1949. Every year during the month of May, NAMI joins the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. Together, we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support the millions of people in the U.S. affected by mental illness.

May is AAPI Month
May is Asian/Pacific American (AAPI) Heritage Month! Families can celebrate the history and culture of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have contributed to America’s diversity and success with resources from the Parents.com article "How to Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Kids."

May is Jewish American Heritage Month
During May 2023, hundreds of organizations and Americans of all backgrounds are joining together to discover, explore, and celebrate the vibrant and varied American Jewish experience from the dawn of our nation to the present day.

Upcoming Local Event: Celebrate the culture, people and food of Israel with an afternoon of fun for all ages on May 7th at the Taste of Israel Festival. Oaks PTA Blood Drive - May 16
An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate on Spring-Ford's Inservice Day, May 16th. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross and Oaks Elementary. If you don’t know if you’re eligible, show up to find out! Thank you for making Oaks Elementary such a success. Let’s make an impact on May 16th by adding it to our list of great accomplishments!

Curriculum Preview Night: Amplify K-5 ELA
Join the Spring-Ford Curriculum Team on May 30th to view the new ELA curriculum resources, Amplify, and speak with the Elementary Curriculum Supervisor. This event is intended for parents of students in grades Kindergarten through 5.

When: May 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. This will be open house style for K-5 parents to come and go anytime during that time frame.

Meet the Instrument Night
Students entering 4th grade for the coming 2023-2024 school can sign-up and learn a Band or Orchestra instrument! On Thursday, June 1st the Music Department is holding a Meet the Instrument Night at the 7th Grade Center from 5-6:16 p.m. or 6:30-7:45 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Students will get to try out three instruments of their choice. Click here to register.

LES Yard Sale - Saturday, May 6th 
Our Yard Sale got moved to the rain date - Saturday, May 6th - so there’s still time to get your items ready to sell! Yard Sale will be from 7am-1pm, must be set up by 6:45am. Spaces are limited! Cost is $15 per space. See more details and sign up here.
