Student Spotlight: Fall Athletic Signing
Congratulations to 20 Spring-Ford Area High School student athletes who signed letters of intent in November. A letter of intent is a document used to indicate a student athlete's commitment to participating in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) colleges and universities in the United States. While there are designated dates for different sports, Spring-Ford typically holds three Signing Days a year. Congratulations to Morgan Kunze, Jaden Minter, Cierra Griffith, Michael Fazio, Morgan Lester, Lily Smith, Maris Sadowski, Ashley Gutshall, Cameryn Robbins, Mason Doan, Mia Mitchell, Bryn Frankhouser, Julia Corropolese, Emma Reinert, Allison Bellaire, Dylan Broderick, Nicholas Moyer, Brian Korchok Jr., Justin Wixted, and Brandon Solomon.

Spring-Ford SEPAC Spotlight
During last week's in-service day, Spring-Ford's Instructional Assistants (IA) met with parent-leaders from Spring-Ford Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) to learn about their experience as a parent of a Spring-Ford student with special needs. The SEPAC parent panel shared stories of their own personal journeys with having children having special needs. They shared some of the obstacles and focused on many good experiences along the way. Ultimately, their message was primarily to share their personal stories and to express how thankful and grateful they are for the job that the IAs do each and every day.

About SEPAC: The mission of the Spring-Ford Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is to work for the consideration, respect, support, inclusion, and appropriate education for all the neurodiverse children within the Spring-Ford community.

School Board Reorganization Meeting
The next scheduled meeting will be Monday, December 5, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. for the annual Reorganization Meeting. All School Boards in Pennsylvania reorganize during the first week of December each year to:

  • elect a president and vice president
  • adopt a meeting calendar for the following year
  • appoint committees and other board positions
  • swear in newly elected members (during election years or as needed)

Participation at the Reorganization Meeting shall be virtual via YouTube and in-person. As always, Board Meetings are recorded to allow those members of the public that cannot participate to review at a later time.

STS and SFASD Guest Teacher Program
Substitute Teacher Service (STS) is proud to offer the Guest Teacher Program at Spring-Ford. This program allows those who have a four-year degree to take an online training program that would prepare them for teaching in the classroom as a day to day substitute teacher. This program is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania and is exclusive to STS. The program will enhance the abilities of guest teachers to assure the education and well-being of the children is our top priority.

As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the regularly appointed teacher for whom you would be substituting.  Your goal will be to adhere to the learning environment that would exist if the regular teacher were in the classroom.

  • Mrs. Gluck, thank you so very much. You were such an amazing long-term sub, you taught me more than my actual teacher, and you understood that not all kids learn the same. thank you for taking the time to teach me and I'm so happy you were hired as a 9th-grade teacher. You're going to do great things. I hope you stay here for a while and help other kids as you helped me. i love how goofy you are; you clearly state that you should be afraid to be who you are. From, Pamela P.

Cold Weather is Coming, Know the Plan!
This year, Spring-Ford Area School District built one Emergency Day into the calendar and plans to utilize Virtual or Flexible Instruction Days (FID) in case of an emergency closure. A Virtual Day or FID will be used for an unplanned school closure and will eliminate the need for a make-up days at the end of the year. On a weather related Virtual Day, students will follow a modified schedule with virtual lessons via Zoom or Teams synchronously for a portion of each period. If there is a need to call a Snow Day, the first Snow Day of the year will be a “traditional” Snow Day and April 5, 2023 will change to an In-Person school day.
