Parent Pick-Up Process for Royersford Elementary School: Q & A
1. What do I need to do for parent pick-up on the first day of school?
On the first day of school, you must create and display a homemade placard or sign on your car dashboard with the first and last name of the student(s) you are picking up. This allows staff to quickly identify your child and ensure a smooth dismissal process.
2. How do I create the placard/ sign for the first day?
Simply write the first and last name of your child/children in large, legible letters on a piece of paper or card stock. Ensure it is clearly visible on your car’s dashboard when you arrive for pick-up.
3. How many placards/signs will my family receive?
Each family designated as parent pick-up will receive 4 placards/signs. Please distribute the placard/sign to the family members you designated as safe to pick up your child. Your child will only be dismissed to the members you designated on the parent-pick up list.
4. When will I receive the (4) official school-issued placards/signs?
The oldest child in each family will receive (4) official school-issued placards on the first day of school. These placards must be used starting on the second day of school.
5. What if I forget to bring a placard on the first day?
Without a placard, your dismissal process may be delayed, which could cause traffic congestion. It is crucial to have your sign on the first day to avoid these issues. If you do not have your sign, please park your car in a designated parking spot and come to the front main entrance.
6. What if I don’t have my official school-issued placard after the first day?
Please do not enter the parent pick-up line without your school-issued placard after the first day. Doing so will cause delays and disrupt the flow of traffic. If you forget your placard, you will need to park and come to the front main entrance and speak with staff members on duty. BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR ID.
7. Can I leave my car to pick up my child?
No, please remain in your vehicle when in the parent pick-up line. A staff member will bring your child to you. You may never leave your car unattended in the parent-pick-up line.
8. What should I do if my child is not being picked up by car but is still a parent pick-up?
If you designated your child as a parent pick-up and they are not being picked up by car via the traffic circle, please arrive at the front main entrance of the school with your placard/sign and stand by the shed. Staff members on duty will call for your child to meet you outside near the shed at the front main entrance.
9. What if I have more than one child to pick up?
The oldest child will receive (4) placards, and you can use one placard for all your children. Make sure the placard is clearly visible on your dashboard.
10. What are the traffic rules for parent pick-up?
- You must have a school issued placard/sign (except the first day be sure to make your own placard/sign)
- Do not block traffic on 4th Ave. Wait your turn to enter the pick-up line.
- Cars must not go around other vehicles.
